Today, we have released our first patch update. This release builds on the momentum of v4.5 and introduces a whole range of enhancements and bug fixes. ### What's included? From this release onwards, both player apps are released together on the same schedule, with both download links in one place. You can upgrade to this release from Tizen v4 R413 and unlock the following features: * Display Management: Alerts, Faults, and Logs * Display Management: Commands - create an alert on command run * Display Management: Purge List * Display Management: Send status separately * Display Management: XMR: clear stats and logs * Playback: Xibo IC data refresh * Scheduling: Schedule Criteria - weather based criteria * Scheduling: Schedule assessment - polling every 10 seconds {% hint style="info" %} The release also introduces 1 feature, 2 enhancements, and 14 fixes across both webOS and Tizen. {% endhint %} ### New features * Player: Disable automatic control of on/off times via the CMS so that you can set them manually on the display ### Improvements * Licence: Licencing via HTTPS with HTTP fallback * Player: Log a message on status page when the display is unauthorised ### Bug Fixes * Interactivity: Trigger code is not received correctly * Layout: Portrait oriented content was not properly centered when scaled to fit landscape displays * Layout: Splash layout not showing correctly * Library: Dynamic playlist updating issue * Library: Media inventory includes files no longer needed * Library: Remove data files not in use * Media: Audio widget prevents playing next widget * Media: Fix duration issue on videos with duration manual set * Player: Bug on region looping and statistics * Player: Inform that player is deauthorised * Player: Normalize MAC addresses letter case between different models * Player: Not reporting the current layout on CMS player status window * Player: Use default error message if message is empty * Schedule: Play local content when player is de-authorised

{% endupdate %} {% update date="2026-08-03" tags="android,latest" %} ## Android v4 R412 ### New features * Screen orientation from the CMS โ€” orientation can now be set in the display settings profile and is applied natively on supported devices (Amazon, Hisense, Giada). * Amazon Signage device management โ€” added support for the Amazon device management API (v1.1), including screen orientation. * Amino 4K playback โ€” new dedicated video player for smoother 4K video on Amino devices. * Media capability reporting โ€” the player now reports its playback capabilities (supported codecs, HEVC/AV1/4K support, and screen/output resolution) to the CMS. * Richer data connectors โ€” data connector requests can now send custom headers and a request body, and receive the response status code. ### Improvements * More reliable upgrades โ€” application upgrades are now identified by content, so patch releases are handled correctly; repeated failures are reported to the CMS instead of being retried indefinitely; and upgrades are skipped on devices that cannot self-install (e.g. Amazon, Sony). * Upgrade reporting โ€” both successful and failed upgrades are now reported back to the CMS. * Smoother 4K video โ€” the player detects true-4K content and avoids running two heavy decoders at once on hardware that cannot sustain it, while keeping gapless playback where the device supports it. * Better resolution reporting โ€” display reporting now distinguishes the on-screen UI size from the physical HDMI output resolution. * Sony โ€” more reliable serial number and MAC address lookup\* * Video faults โ€” clearer and more accurate reporting of video decoder problems. ### Bug fixes * Fixed a rounding error in image and video scaling that could leave a thin gap or slight misalignment on exact-fit content. * Fixed occasional start-up timezone errors on some devices (e.g. Amazon). * Giada: hardware calls no longer run on the UI thread, preventing occasional freezes; upgrade completion is now detected correctly. * Fixed a rare crash when tearing down a layout that had faulted. * The CMS โ€œorientationโ€ command now behaves consistently with the display-profile orientation setting on OEM devices. ### Other * Removed the discontinued Vestel integration. * Removed the legacy โ€œbackup configโ€ option and refreshed the About screen text. {% hint style="info" %} \*Please note the MAC address detection behaviour on Sony Bravia displays varies on the hardware series, as stated below: * BZ-L pre 2025 โœ… * BZ-L post 2025 โŒ * BZ-P โœ… {% endhint %}

{% endupdate %} {% update date="2026-07-29" tags="cms" %} ## Xibo CMS 4.5.0 **Xibo 4.5 is our biggest visual refresh to date - a completely modernised interface with quality of life improvements.** For years, the single most consistent piece of feedback from our community has been that the Xibo interface was starting to show its age. v4.5 is our answer. We've rebuilt the CMS front end on a modern foundation, giving you a cleaner, faster, more intuitive experience across the areas you use most - navigation, reporting, media management and scheduling - without changing how any of your existing content, layouts or displays behave. Everything you know still works exactly as it did; it simply looks and feels better. If you're upgrading from 4.4, there's nothing you need to relearn. Your layouts, schedules, displays and permissions all carry over untouched.
> **The codename for this release is Neujmin. 25D/Neujmin is a periodic comet discovered on 24th February 1916 and not observed since 1927 - 99 years and counting. We promised ourselves a new interface before Neujmin was next seen. Given the comet remains lost, weโ€™d like it on record that we made it with time to spare.** ### What's changed? #### ๐Ÿ†• New * **Background media uploads**: Historically, uploading large files to the CMS led to waiting times and not being able to use the CMS during upload. We have introduced the agility to drag and drop files directly into the page, and they upload in the background so youโ€™re not stuck waiting * **Media gallery view toggle**: Locating the right media can often be difficult when using only the grid view, especially if you have a lot of items! Now you can switch between views to find and manage media faster - you can find the toggle on the top right of the grid * **Time connected report**: The time connected report in v4.4 can be difficult to get a strong overview of your networkโ€™s health. We have reimagined the report, making it simpler to understand, with improved data filtering * **Improved navigation**: 4.5 introduces clearer navigation between pages, such as menuboards. We have included breadcrumbs to show page hierarchy and allow you to go back to where you need to be * **Mobile friendly**: By introducing an industry leading framework, the design of the CMS is responsive to ensure that you can use Xibo on the go from your mobile and tablet devices - we are continuing to improve this as time goes on #### โœจ Improved * **A fully refreshed interface**: A modern, consistent look and feel across the entire CMS, built in React and Tailwind CSS, for improved responsiveness and performance * **Clearer navigation**: Streamlined menus and page layouts to make everyday tasks quicker to reach * **Folders**: Re-imagined folder structure to simply find and organise your data * **Reporting**: Improved the interface for how reports work, specifically the time connected report. The SSP connector report is now part of the All Reports page * **Right-click to delete calendar events**: Remove a scheduled event directly from the calendar by right-clicking it ### Additional information

๐Ÿ†™ Upgrades The one thing to be aware of is the upgrade itself. Because 4.5 is a substantial visual change, we've deliberately put it in your hands rather than rolling it out automatically - so you choose when your team sees the new interface, rather than having it appear mid-session. * **Cloud Hosted customers**: auto-upgrades are disabled for this release. To move to 4.5, log in to [My Account](https://account.xibosignage.com/login) and upgrade your instance manually with one click. * **Self-hosted customers:** Update your docker-compose file to the release-4.5.0 tag, then pull and redeploy. The theme volume will no longer be mounted. ๐Ÿ’ฅ Breaking changes **No content, configuration or player changes are required - your existing layouts, schedules, displays and permissions all continue to work without modification.** However, there are some things that have been removed from v4.5: * Horizontal nav bar * Custom connectors, custom reports, custom twig views, custom display profiles * Report Fault page * Status dashboard clickable charts * Audience reporting connector
๐Ÿค Compatibility * **CMS version:** Xibo CMS 4.5 * **Player app requirements:** this version of the CMS does not have any new player app requirements compared to v4.4. We recommend using player software of the same version as your CMS. Default branding is now handled via the new /library/brand directory Please note: webOS and Tizen players require v3 R308 and above to function with a v4 CMS.
